An Ending & New Beginnings
Dear Yogis,
Whether you have been coming to my classes for days, weeks, months, years or over a decade I have some news to share with you.
After 13 years of teaching regular weekly yoga classes in person, I have decided to take a pause from my local classes. This means that my final in-person classes will be on Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th August.
This has not been an easy decision to make. I have loved teaching you over the years and have met so many wonderful people through these classes. Some of you have been coming for many years, and I feel incredibly grateful for the loyalty, friendship and support you have shown me.
But after 13 years of having my life structured around weekly classes, I have realised that I need more freedom.
My retreats and the many other aspects of my work have grown and developed so much over the years, and I want to be able to give more time and energy to them. I also need more space for myself, to rest, to have downtime and simply to be able to take time out when I need it.
At the moment, having regular classes scheduled every week means that I am constantly feeling tied to a timetable. When I need a break, or want to take some time away, there is always the feeling of needing to work around the classes. Other parts of my work allow me to schedule time out in the diary but the classes tie me in, I have reached a point where I really need the freedom to be able to choose when I need to block out the diary and take time.
I feel I am constantly having to send in cover teachers as I am away so much of the year and so our flow doesn't have the current it used to before my children grew and my retreats in the Uk and aboard became such a large part of my yearly schedule.
Moving more of my teaching online gives me that freedom. It means that I can continue to share yoga with you while also having the ability to work from anywhere in the world. I can teach online when I am away on retreat, when I am travelling, or from wherever life takes me, without being tied to one particular place every week.
I will, however, be continuing with my online Friday morning yoga class, and from September I will also be introducing a new online 'Nervous System Reset' class on Tuesday evenings. So there will still be plenty of opportunities for us to practise together.
I know this may come as a surprise (it has for me too as I never imagined until a few weeks ago that I might ever be able to say goodbye to regular teaching!) and I am sure I will feel emotional about our final classes. There is a sadness in saying goodbye to something that has been such a big part of my life for so many years. But there is also a real sense of excitement about having more freedom, more space and the opportunity to focus on the things that are calling me forward now.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being part of this journey with me. Thank you for showing up, for trusting me, for sharing your energy and for allowing me to be your teacher.
I hope this is not the end of our yoga journey together — just a change to see what might come next.
With so much love and gratitude,
Saira x
